Well, today I decided to put this fiction novel under the attacking Christmas category because if you attack Jesus Christ, then you're attacking Christmas. In fact, Sharon Hughes, host of Changing Worldviews is airing a show called The Truth Behind the Da Vinci Code" with Richard Abanes.

Newsmax is reporting a Christmas miracle today concerning the cross on the LA County Seal."Los Angeles County has so far wasted $1,800 in taxpayers' money to place decals over crosses on the county seal, but the censorship isn't working.
The crosses are "shining through," the Los Angeles Daily News reported today in an article it headlined "A sign of the cross miraculously reappears."

My friends at Concerned Women for America share a story called Philadelphia Will Prosecute Christian Protesters . Why? Because these Christians were preaching God’s Word to those attending the city’s “Outfest".

Applying Your Biblical Worldview

Today we have seen how the media is covering this brutal murder. The problem however, is that they never mention the soul and where Bobbie Jo ended up after her death. They also haven't discussed how Lisa Montgomery's faith could have impacted her choice to murder for this unborn child. These are ethical, moral and spiritual issues. Today I want you to think about how you would apply your biblical worldview in an analytical way to the news.

Are you willing to stand for Christ in the marketplace? Are you brave enough to say this season,"Merry Christmas"? Can you give a defense for why you believe in the virgin birth and for Jesus as God's son? Can you explain why Christmas is a Christian holiday? I hope you can, and I hope these stories show you today how important your faith in Jesus is.

Take Action: Help Bill Kennedy

Those of you who have followed EI news for a while know about Bill Kennedy and his case. For those of you who don't please visit Justice for Kennedy for more information.

In a recent email from Kennedy's attorney, Craig Parshall, Attorney Craig Parshall urges supporters of Bill to write and contact President Bush again.

From the newsletter - "Could I impose on you one more time to take some action for Bill and to aid his struggle for justice? Please call the White House at 202 - 456 - 1414 (then ask for the "comment line") or email President Bush at http://www.whitehouse.gov/webmail, and deliver a message like this one:

The Blessing of Shalom

Sadly we start today's news coverage with this story about Johnnie Carl, Musical Director/Arranger for the Glory of Christmas who commited suicide early this morning in one of the church bathrooms. Please remember his wife, and family, and everyone involved with the Glory of Christmas. This is extremely sad.

And it has been reported that The Glory of Christmas will resume tonight.

In the next few days I'll be doing some research on the issue of Christians and Suicide because there are a lot of opinions about the issue out there, and I'll write a few op eds on it for you.

I just woke up a few hours ago to find out that the gunman killed himself. Turns out it was the world famous composer Johnnie Carl. He worked at the Crystal Cathedral for about 30 years and his music was performed by many famous orchestras throughout his life time.

Please remember his wife and family in your prayers in the coming days. Please also keep the church in your prayers.

The Glory of Christmas showings will resume tonight.

Believe it or not there are a ton of people in the world who think that we should kill elderly sick people so that they are not a financial burden on their families. In fact, BRITAIN'S leading medical ethics expert says that suicide should be considered if you are one of those sick elderly people.

The True Cost of Christmas

Every year I usually hear some radio talkshow host read this list about the "true cost of Christmas" as we see it mentioned in that beautiful song, "The Twelve Days of Christmas", so this year I thought I would let you know what I found out.

According to the CNBC Website the "True Cost of Christmas is only a mere - $17,296.91 or if you read further it's over $66,000 .

Really, the true cost of Christmas was a lot more than money. It was love sent down from heaven, born to literally die for you and me.

Oprah the depressing one

Yesterday I flipped on the television during the afternoon and caught Oprah. What a downer that was. She had this show about 'The Mistake I Can't Take Back' and it was a downer of a show.

The reason it was a downer was because it was totally depressing and the reason Oprah had the show was to help the rest of us from making stupid mistakes like her guests did. I suppose that's a good reason, but she didn't offer the HOPE that her guests could've had.

One guest decided to drag race with a stranger, at night, and he got in an accident and killed two innocent people in another car. One of those people just happened to be his own mother! Another guest decided to not strap in her children one day when she was in a hurry to get home, and she got in an accident and her child died. Sad stories, and yet what was even sadder was that these guests said that they would never be able to forgive themselves for the mistakes they made.

That's sad, and I can totally understand why that would feel like an impossible task. The good news though, that Oprah didn't share, was that Jesus could and can forgive these dear ones for the mistakes they made. He can cleanse their guilty conscience and make them new creatures in Christ. Too bad Oprah didn't mention that, her show would've made a bigger impact.

Yet, another sad truth is that the Church rarely mentions it, so then again, why should we expect someone like Oprah to spread the news when she probably hasnt' heard it herself.

Church, that's our job. Use Christmas wisely and let people know that Jesus was born to forgive them for all of their mistakes....intentional or not.

Today has been a great day. I've spent quite a bit of it addressing a ton of Christmas cards to many friends all over the United States. In fact, some of you might even be getting a card from me, just because you were brave enough to give me your address!

However, I love Christmas because it's a great time of year to remember all those people the Lord has placed in your life. Some of them you may never meet in person, but you know because of their faith in the Lord Jesus, you will meet some day in heaven. I totally look forward to that day.

While I was making out cards I was listening the to radio and remembering some of the great Christmas music of the past. And yesterday I just happened to see this woman named Pam Pierce who has the most beautiful voice in the world. She was on TV singing Christmas carols and you have got to hear her. Slithering Reptile

If you click over to my E-Involved website you will see that I'm a slithering reptile - yeah, me - Stacy Harp - a slithering reptile.

Now, I've been called a lot of things in life, but never a reptile, let alone a slithering one!

And even though I've tried literally for weeks to get this blog in the TTLB Ecosystem, for some reason it won't take. And maybe that's a good thing, because after all why would I even want to find out if I'm a reptile!

For me the worst gift I ever received was from the owner of the car dealership I worked for when I was 20 years old. I won't say who it was, to protect them, but I'll never forget the gift because it was awful.

It was a mushroom growing kit! The owner's wife actually wrapped a huge box of fertilizer with mushroom seeds in it and gave it to all of us that worked there. Aside from it being an awful gift, I hate mushrooms! Needless to say, I never forgot the gift, and today I think it's hilarious!

Everyday I go through a ton of email and news and this time of the year is especially fun because the media gurus and liberals in the theology world just like to run the name of Christ through the mud.

So over at my E-Involved website I've shared a few stories in the news about the bashing of my Lord Jesus.

And I'll leave you with this question - if Jesus isn't God like He said He is, then why is there such animosity towards His message and Him? Why do these people who hate Christ want to shut up
His message?

Could it be because He IS the Messiah?

12 years of working hard

A few days ago I was really struggling finishing up a paper for school. Sometimes it is really difficult to stay the course especially when you are being told to do things that you are not crazy about.

Remember as a child being forced to eat veggies, well, it's kind of the same thing in school. You know the paper is a good thing, but it's really hard to swallow sometimes. Anyway, the drill is over and I've completed another semester of college.

And I wanted to just encourage you if you're struggling accomplishing a task you don't want to do. It's about endurance. It's about perspective and not comfort. I think that get's lost in today's culture because we are so saturated with things that center around us.

Things worth working for take time. And trust me one this, I've been in college 12 years, and it's been a long journey. But the great news is that it's a journey that I chose to take and a journey that has literally changed my life. So hang in there if you're stuck doing things you don't want to do right now. In the end you will be successful.

Always remember Successful people do the things they don't want to do, in order to end up doing what they want to do. Unsuccesful people do what they want to do, and then end up doing what they don't want to do. It pays to work hard. Do it.

I Am David the Movie

We Have Met the Enemy...

Do you not just love the word enemy? Brings to mind a number of great things doesn't it? For some in the Christian community it means - homosexuals, Democrats, liberals and bible reading. For some in the liberal community it means - Right wing biggoted Christian homophobes, Republicans, dog-lovers and Ann Coulter. Sorry, I just had to add Ann. :)

However for N.Z. Bear he's got a definite point of view and it's none of the above. It's about bloggers versus old school journalism. Here's the first paragraph and then you can read the rest.

Yesterday I decided to join the multitudes of others in the blogosphere and delete my comments option. The reason why is because I just felt like it. Nothing personal against anyone.

I was just in a mood where I decided that comments are not necessary to show on my blog.

Yesterday I flipped on C-Span and started listening to Ana Marie Cox as she gave her speech about how blogging impacted or didn't impact this years election. She was young, sassy and very interesting to watch. The problem is that she's no lady and extremely immature.

I have no problem with people who have differing opinions, that's what makes the world go around. What I have an issue with is lack of respect, and immaturity and Ana displays both.

Her website is filled with vulgarities and for that reason alone, should not be read. I don't get how someone can find using foul language funny or even reasonable. If you're so intellectual and thoughtful, I would think there would be a way to communicate your point without reducing yourself to the level vulgarity.

Good thing there are some conservatives who have a little respect for the written word. That's why I'm here.

Blogs for Bush is telling us that our friend Hugh Hewitt is having a new book coming out called Blog - there's a shock huh! :)

Sharon Hughes has a nice post about last years Thanksgiving with the troops. I remember that and thought it was great the way Bush annoyed the Dems by doing that! I'm so glad he was re-elected!

A friend quit smoking! Yeah - read about it at Christweb.

Dan Lacey - creator extraordinaire of one of my favorite comics in the whole entire universe - FAITHMOUSE - has posted a few cool thoughts on his blog. He talks about how he gets pigeonholed as being part of the vast right wing conspiracy. And that's a bad thing? :)

As usual Pastor Mark Roberts has some wonderful thoughts on Thanksgiving. Oh, and I just bought his book Dare to Be True about the idea of deception and the challenge to be honest all the time. READ IT!

Michelle Malkin is reminding her readers that tonight ABC is airing a special about how the Matthew Shepard's killers may have been motivated by money and drugs rather than hatred of gays. This is sure to be controversial and annoying to some homosexual activists who have depended upon this to further their cause.

The Day After...Walking socks

It's the day after Thanksgiving and here I am finally getting a moment to say hi. This isn't exactly my typical entry, but that can wait because I'll do that after I write this.

How was your Thanksgiving this year? Mine was absolutely wonderful. And today has been just as great - even though I've still got work to do. :)

I decided to get myself back into a walking routine with my dogs and so I braved Big 5 this morning. I was shocked at how many people were in there. Usually when I go there is no one! So I guess they don't call this "black Friday" for nothing.

I bought a pedometer, which just happened to be on sale for 9.95 - reg. price about 15.00, and I was told by a good source that walking socks made the difference when walking long distances. So I bought 4 pairs of specifically designed walking socks. They weren't on sale, and they were $4 a pair. And when I got home, I tried them on and I'm telling you they were comfortable! I've never worn such nice socks. They were padded in the toes and heel and they had arch support! Amazing...

Every year Hollywood likes to create holiday entertainment for the world to see. This year is no exception. In fact, you may have already heard about this movie because it stars Tom Hanks and he has been making the rounds on all the talkshows.

If you're like me you don't like to just put down your money on anything - you value family, faith and values and you want a movie that is great for the whole family.

OCD & Pedophilia & Porn

This isn't my usual posting on the news of the day or my rants on the gay agenda, but it is something that has been on my mind for the last few days. Being in grad school, (almost done - only 3 classes left!) I have a lot on my mind and a lot of information gets pasted my way.

Lately I've been studying a lot about OCD - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and I just had the thought about whether or not there is some correlation between OCD and pedophila and pornography users.

I think there's a possiblity that there is a connection. Why? Easy, because when someone uses pornography and ultimately becomes addicted, there has to be precursor thought and obsession that happens before they get the compulsion to act out their behavior.

I think it's also possible with pedophiles - somehow in their warped minds they become obsessed with children, eventually act out on them and then they are relieved.

It's an interesting thing to think about. I'm not sure if there is any research on the subject, but eventually I'll find out.

You may have noticed I haven't posted much this week and there's a reason for that - STRESS!

And the stress of life, grad school, people at my house messing it up/aka building on to it. Augh.

Then there's work and all that comes with that, and of course my mom's birthday coming up on Sunday and all that comes with the grief of losing a parent.

My mom would've been 60 on Sunday if she lived. And I remember driving her from a chemo appt where she was telling me that she was going to have a bash of a party for her 60th. I knew she would be dead when she said that, but her denial got her through to the end.

The good news is that she is with Jesus now, living in His presence and I bet Sunday will be a great day for her. I'll remember her, but I'll rejoice that she's well and in no more pain.

That's the hope we have a Christians. Knowing that when we die, there will be no more pain, death or anything that hurts us. People say there won't be any tears either, but that's not true because the Scripture says that HE will wipe away all of our tears. So there has to be tears in order to wipe them away.

That's a good thing.

So don't fret, I'll be back in awhile with more good stuff. However, until December it will be slim because of finals, papers, presentations bla bla bla.

I'll be glad when I'm out of college. 12 years is long enough for me and I'm ready to be out! Those of you who have been there, totally understand I'm sure. Those of you who don't, probably aren't reading this blog! HA!

IT’S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR…OR IS IT?

As the holiday season approaches many of us tend to experience a myriad of feelings. On one hand, we’re excited because of the seasonal festivities of the year. Traditions, faith, hope and love abound. On the other hand, we might find ourselves feeling lonely, discouraged or down because of the amount of stress and expectations that come our way with the holiday’s. If this is you, I want to offer you a few tips for getting through the holidays.

1. It is okay to feel sad, lonely or melancholy during the holidays. There is no rule that says that you have to feel festive or that you have to "put on a happy face". Things happen, and not all memories are happy. Some of us may remember loved ones that have died, or maybe we don’t have good memories of holidays in our homes. Whatever the situation is, know that it is okay to feel sad if you are.

2. Establish realistic goals and expectations for the holiday season. Limit the amount of parties you attend or the gifts you buy. It’s okay to be simple and just give a card. Take the stress off yourself by just being simple.

3. Remember the true reason for the season and reflect on what the holidays are all about. Thank God for your blessings.

4. Limit alcoholic beverages and foods that contain high amounts of sugar because they both enhance feelings of depression.

5. Build new memories and make a new tradition. Live within your means and do something nice for someone who may be less fortunate than you are.

Remember the holidays are only a season and you will be able to get through another year. Spend time with supportive and caring friends and renew old friendships.

Okay, I admit it, once in a while I tune in to Regis & Kelly to hear their thoughts about the news of the day and what crazy things they are up to. Today was one of those days, seeing Friday is my slow down and relax day.

So as I turned on the show, I heard Regis telling the audience that Katie Couric was after him again. Apparently last night he was at a dinner and Katie visited his table 4 times. And in his Regis way, he joked about how Katie was after him. Co-hostess Kelly joined in on the fun and kept the show alive.

The other thing they talked about was Star Jones' wedding tomorrow. Have you heard - Star has lost a lot of weight and is finally getting married! So even though I personally could really care less about whether she is married or not, I thought I'd let you know.

As most of you, my faithful regular readers know, I used to work at Focus on the Family, so I have interest in what Dr. Dobson is up to. And since Dr. Dobson seems to be in the press every single day these days, he's not only received much criticism, but continues to receive praise from his faithful followers.

Contrary to what you might think, I am not a Dr. Dobson junkie. I rarely listen to Focus on the Family's daily show, since I had to when I was working there daily :) Because for some reason the show doesn't really interest me. And to this day I've never read any of his books.

Do I like him? Sure, but do I worship him like many Evangelicals do - no. In fact, most Christian celebrities irk me because they are elitist and don't really represent the point of view of most in the Church. And this is one complaint I've heard over and over again about Dobson. People think that he speaks as the leader on behalf of all Evangelicals in the church. The truth however, is that he doesn't. And I personally get sick and tired of hearing people think that I am exactly like him bla bla bla, because people just have a tendency to pigeonhole you because you have a strong opinion on a matter.

All that to say, that whether or not you like Dr. Dobson, he is here to stay and he will be on television over the weekend. So if you're interested, tune in to the following shows.

Remembering Our Veterans

I have posted over at E-Involved some great information about Veteran's Day, so if you're interested, click on over.

On a personal note, today would've been my step father's birthday if he was still living. He died about 11 years ago of liver failure due to alcoholism. He was born in Germany and served under the Nazi regime. I remember he told me that he hated serving under Hitler, but he did because he had no choice.

Eventually he was able to come to America and become free. For that I'm thankful. He was a nice guy and loved my mother.

I remember how he used to watch war movies all the time, while drinking his German beer. I didn't understand why he did that then, but today I do. It was the way he coped with the horror of being involved in war. In clinical terms it would be Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

War is hell, and for our vets it doesn't end when they come off the battle field. It continues in their minds and often by the scars on their bodies.

Please join me in praying for our vets today and always. Please also remember our military and the other militaries of the world in prayer today. May peace soon come to this earth.

As we begin this week, let us remember those who are lost and need to find Jesus as their Savior. It is really easy sometimes to become annoyed with those in the media who come against Christians and what we hold dear, however, let me remind you that they are spiritually blinded by the enemy of their souls.

George Stephanopoulos host of "This Week" questioned Dr. Dobson about how Dr. D said that Patrick Leahy is a God people hater and George asked if Dr. Dobson was going to apologize for such "unChristian" behavior. Here I think Mike is getting President Bush confused with Bill Clinton.

16. There are nearly 300 million Americans -- 200 million of them of voting age. We only lost by three and a half million! That's not a landslide -- it means we're almost there. Imagine losing by 20 million. If you had 58 yards to go before you reached the goal line and then you barreled down 55 of those yards, would you stop on the three yard line, pick up the ball and gohome crying -- especially when you get to start the next down on the threeyard line? Of course not! Buck up! Have hope! More sports analogies arecoming!!!

The Lessons of Cancer

Yesterday was the second year anniversary of my mothers death to cancer. And as I thought about the lessons I've learned and how much cancer is a part of our world and society, I just had to pray again and ask for the Lord's will to be done in the lives of those who get this deadly disease.

It was also reported that dear Elizabeth Edwards has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Please keep her in your prayers. Chief Justice William Rehnquist currently also has thyroid cancer. Please pray for him.

I also recently sent out a prayer request for Norm Wright's wife Joyce who has cancer. Please remember her in prayer.

Our friend Greyseekers mom has cancer too and is having surgery on Monday. Please remember both of them in prayer.

So we know that anyone can get cancer. Unfortunately we live in a sin sick fallen world and no one really knows how we get cancer. But I believe with all of my heart that God cares and sees everyone who is struggling with this disease. Sometimes He chooses to heal and other times He allows death. In my mom's case, it was death. But I have the security of knowing she is now with Christ in the heavenlies.

And if I had to share one lesson of cancer and how loved ones can deal with the devastation of dealing with it, I would say, share your heart and allow others to walk with you through it. I had a wonderful list of prayer partners through my E-Involved list and also a dear friend in Janet Parshall who encouraged me behind the scenes even though she was extremely busy. I'll never forget that and I still have all the email I received from everyone during that time.

Recently my friend Paul, posted this at the American Family Association blog. I pray it touches those of you who are going through this hard struggle right now.

Cancer is so limited.

John posted an entry called A Time for Healing Part 2 and I commented by simply telling John that he would remain in my prayers. Since I've been praying for him for months, I thought I'd just tell him that since in the past he's professed a Christian faith.

Well, to John's credit he didn't respond to my post. However some of his other readers did.

Then there was a post about John Ashcroft possibly leaving his current post and the question was asked if he would be appointed to the Supreme Court. Personally, I would love that. However, I left another simple comment at the blog stating that I would like to see Judge Roy Moore appointed to the Supreme Court. That was it.

The Media - Will they be uniters or dividers?

This morning President Bush held his first news conference in months. I decided to watch the whole thing because I was interested in finding out if the rumors about John Ashcroft and Colin Powell were true and if they were even going to be mentioned.

However, I noticed something as I watched the press. Only ONE reporter congratulated President Bush on his outstanding victory yesterday. Only ONE. Out of the numerous questions that were asked only ONE reported congratulated him!

Now, tell me something, why? If everyone in the media is so concerned about our President being a uniter and not a divider, then don't you think that they should show the President the common courtesy of congratulations.

There is a clear standard in the media and their goal is not to unite. The standard of the media is to divide.

And contrary to what power the liberal elite think they have, there is a new day. There is a new media that will do our best to expose the blatant hypocrisy of those who accuse the President of such things.

I'm anxious to see if the Media, who are primarily Democrat, are going to be dividers or will they begin to unite. Time will tell.

My husband went to the polls right at 7 a.m. when the polls opened and he told me that there were about 20 people in line. He waited about an hour.

I went to the polls at 10:30 thinking that the line would be less and to my surprise and glee it was long. I waited about an hour also and when I left the line was close to at least 30 people!

In fact a few days ago when I was watching the news about this terrorist, it was absolutely hilarious to watch him attempt to kiss his followers hands, as they pulled away from him. Not to mention his light blue outfit. I guess even blue looks well on a sickly terrorist.

But it's sad, as anyone knows who has had a family member have cancer. I'm sure his wife, you know the one who he hasn't seen in a few years, I'm sure she's just devastated that he's got a deadly disease.

But what is even more amazing is that his followers are going to at least pretend to stand behind the terrorist as he ails into his final days of misery on this earth. This should be interesting to say the least.

But what even amazes me more is that Jesus Christ died for the sins of even Arafat. To me that boggles the mind. Yet, that's the Savior and Lord I worship and serve. Can you imagine what would happen if Arafat accepted that salvation. That would be amazing.

But I won't hold my breath. But we can all pray, that whoever takes this terrorist place, is a little more sane....oh, and better looking.

I am a liberated Christian with conservative values based on the Word of God and those values never change because God doesn't change." A Christian or Politician First?

Why is it so hard for people who call themselves Christians to actually stand up for what the Bible teaches?

Take President Bush, our "Christian" President. The guy annoys me because he's so wishy washy when it comes to standing for the Truth.

Take this article where he says wrongly that Muslims and Christians worship the same God.

Sorry, but I don't worship the same God that Muslims do. Jesus Christ is my God, not a God who is called Allah.

Then there's Bush's pandering to the homosexual lobby. Eva, my dear friend, asked what I thought of Bush's endorsement of civil unions - well, I think Bush is pandering to the homosexual lobby.

It's really that simple. Politicians pander.

The question I have is should Christians pander? If you're a politician, are you a Christian first, or a politician first?

As for me, it's always a Christian first. Too bad our President doesn't have those same convictions.

Is Earning a Masters Degree Really An Accomplishment?

You might think the title of this post is a silly question, but today as I was talking to a dear one, this issue came up. This person happens to have her Masters degree and I'm only a few months away from completing my degree in Clinical Psychology.

However, the question still remains - is earning a higher degree really an accomplishment?

For me, I see it as a way to only do what I believe the Lord has called me to do - counsel.

For others, it's a drive, a challenge, a mission.

Others have to do it because they feel inadequate and desire big letters after their name so that they feel important.

What do you think? Do you think going to college and earning a Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree is a big deal?

Over the weekend I spent $10 on the movie Fahrenhype 911 and I was totally looking forward to seeing how the movie debunked Moore's masterpiece propaganda Fahrenheit 911. I was disappointed.

While the movie did clear up some of the false assertions that Moore put out, the movie really was pretty dull and boring. I wouldn't recommend buying it. If you have to see it, rent it.

I'm wondering am I the only one who thinks Clinton has lost his mind. The guy had major heart surgery and I'm guessing that he wasn't putting his hope in Kerry while he was laying on that table. If he is as smart as people claim, then I'm guessing he might have just put his hope in God.

And apparently God isn't finished with Bill here on earth yet because he survived the surgery and is now back stumping putting his hope in Kerry.

Here's one small quote from Bill's speech.

"You've got a clear choice between two strong men with great convictions and different philosophies, different policies with very different consequences for this city, this state, our nation and the world," Clinton told rally attendees. "I think John Kerry's got a good plan."

I love reading the opinions of celebrities because they are just so fascinating! Today I was reading this interesting article about Bill Maher and his views on Christians and religion. Here is a snippet from part of that article.

"Morality is mostly the Golden Rule, treating other people the way you would like other people to treat you," he says. "I mean, the teachings of Jesus are a great moral guide. Jesus is one of the greatest role models I can think of. It's a shame that Christianity has gone so far from the teachings of Jesus. I don't know anyone less Jesus-like than most Christians.

"And, by the way, the Bible does have wisdom in it, but it's written in parables," he continues passionately. "It's the idiots today who take it literally. And the first parable that is in the Bible is the story of Adam and Eve eating from the tree of knowledge.

"What I believe that writer was trying to tell mankind was, 'You can't know. Don't try to eat from the tree of knowledge. You can't know. That's for God to know, not for you to know.' . . . And I believe that is a fairly wise story. You can't know."

Let's take this apart just a little bit...

So Bill, you've noticed the hypocrisy in the church - that's good. I'll give you that many Christians aren't close to being like Jesus. That's obvious to the world. However, I would like to know who you think is most like Jesus?

So idiots take the bible literally? Well, I guess I'm an idiot then because I totally take the Bible literally. However, what Bill obviously doesn't understand is that the Bible not only has parables, which the story of Adam and Eve isn't - but it also is historical, full of poetry, wisdom literature, prophecy and the obvious thing Bill misses - Truth.

Then Bill says he believes the writer....BILL - Who is the writer of the Bible? If you think it's man then that explains your worldview. But if it's God, and you've admitted that you believe in God, then I think it's crazy that you think God is telling us that we can't know.

Ballroom Dancing Revisited

Hello Everyone -

A few days ago I told you that I was going to endure a ballroom dancing class - well, I did it!

Yesterday I braved the dance floor with about 20 different partners. So it turns out I didn't need my husband there after all. :)

Actually, I really enjoyed the class. Much to my shock!

I got to dance with many different men - one really tall dude was 6' 5", and it was like dancing with a statue. A few Mexican men, who had latino rhythm. A few very old geezers, who smelled like a perfume shop. A couple of typical nerdy types with the pocket protectors. I think one was a teacher of something.

And of course most of the people were alot older than me. Of course, some would say I'm creeping up to middle aged now.

My toe is still killing me though. Fortunately, no one stepped on it, but after kicking over my 5 gallon bottle of Arrowhead water before we went to DC last week, my toe is still really sore, and dancing for an hour and a half yesterday really killed it.

But I'm a trooper and survived. I can't wait to go back next week for my second lesson.

So until then, just call me wounded toes....but learning to love the dance.

Because as David danced in Jehovah's sight, I will dance with all my might, before the King of Kings. (Because God won't laugh at me. :))

Ballroom Dancing for me...

Yup, you read that title right. I'm going ballroom dancing this weekend.

Now in order to understand why this is funny I have to tell you that I am not a fan of dancing. Probably because I can't really dance.

But since I love my husband, over the past 12 years he's been wanting me to learn to ballroom dance. So for years - literally - we've been trying to find a ballroom dancing class that we can go to. Well, it finally happened and we signed up.

However, the dance gods were on my side because last week when the class started we were in DC and Virginia, so we couldn't go to the first class. (I was crushed!)

Well, this week is the second week of the class and guess what? My husband can't go! Can you believe that - HE can't go, because he has to work.

So guess what - I get to go to this class all by myself.

Does anyone else think this is funny? I sure do. I only signed up because I love my man and was going to learn to dance with him. But he won't be there.

So I can see it now - tomorrow I'll walk into this class and I'll be the only one without a partner. So I'll probably get stuck with the teacher. Which means that I'll be in front of the class and everyone will see how awful I dance.

But because I'll be with the teacher, no one will dare pick on me because the teacher could fail them. (just kidding)

So this should be good!

I should admit though that my husband did try to drop us from the class, but it was too late. So rather than bite over a hundred bucks, I'm going to learn to dance.

I'll let you know how it goes.

John Kerry & the Bible

Over the last few months I've heard something come out of John Kerry's mouth that really bothers me. He has said that everyone is a child of God.

Get that - "Everyone is a child of God."

That is not true according to the Bible. And it amazes me that someone who was raised in the Church, was an altar boy and claims to be a Christian doesn't know a very basic fact about what the Scripture teaches.

Nowhere in Scripture does it ever say that everyone is a child of God. What it says is that we are all a creation of God. Being a creation and being a child are two entirely different things.

In fact, John 1:12 says, "But as many as received Him (meaning Jesus Christ) to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name."

Do you see how we have to receive Christ in order to become His children?

You do not have to do anything to be God's creation. You have no control over that. But you do have control over whether or not you become a child of God.

So are you a child of God or just His creation - Or Both?

A Few Thoughts on the Mayday for Marriage Rally

The Mayday for Marriage Rally that was held on Friday was a great experience. It was the first time that I had been to DC for a rally like this and I have to tell you it was exciting.

First I was interviewed by the Washington Post, but unfortunately they didn't print what I had to say. ( I don't think I was inflammatory enough)

I met people from all over the United States. Some were wearing the red Mayday for Marriage shirts, and everyone was positive and upbeat.

The speakers were all great but unfortunately I didn't get many pictures because I got more video. Hopefully I will have some video up in the near future.

Anne Graham Lotz, daughter of Billy Graham was awesome. She preached the gospel message of salvation powerfully and graciously. Rabbi Daniel Lapin was also moving. At one point he almost started to cry because of his passion for this issue and how Jews and Christians need to stand together on the issue.

Tony Perkins, who I later got the blessing of meeting back the the Family Research Council, did a great job hosting the event. He made a few jokes about our prayer lives as it started to pour at one point.

Dr. Ken Hutcherson gave a great ending speech and had the crowd on her feet. (Actually we were already on our feet, but you know what I mean)

I didn't see any homosexual activists at the rally and if they were any, they were too small to count. Accept for the rain, I think the event went off beautifully.

Some of the papers estimated the crowd at about 170,000 so that means that there were probably over 200,000 or a quarter of a million of us there. Not bad considering the short time in putting together the event and the cost of going to the event.

All in all, I believe the Lord was pleased. I think the Capitol bigwigs heard our cry for morality and what is right in God's eyes and I hope that they will remember in November that we are watching them.

This was not an anti-gay rally as most of the liberal press made it out to be. There was no gay bashing at all. In fact, just about every speaker mentioned how much God loves everyone, including those trapped in the sin of homosexuality.

My hope and prayer is that someone received Christ that day and every day.

Inclusiveness of Gays

Mark Roberts has a great series going on over at his blog on the inclusiveness of gays in the church. It is so good that I wanted you all to know about it and to encourage you to go and read it.

Mark openly discusses how his church openly welcomed homosexuals, how a gay man lived with his family while his dad was dying of cancer and how we should truly respond to those who are entrapped in this sin.

Kudos Mark - I wish there were more Pastors out there like you who are not afraid to take a stand and be biblically sound. You're doing a great job brother!

Bad Girls of the Bible

Today I thought I'd share something with you that I started studying in my personal bible study time. There is a great book called Bad Girls of the Bible and it is written by Liz Curtis Higgs.

Liz is a great communicator and author. I've heard her tell stories on a number of occasions and you can't help but love this lady of the Lord. She's great!

The idea behind this book is that we can learn lessons from the women in the Bible who messed up. (Can you relate to that! I sure can!)

The first chapter is on Eve, whom Liz lovingly calls "Evie" . She sets up the chapter wonderfully as she describes Evie's relationship with Adam Mann. (How can you not smile at that!)

But aside from the book Liz has written, she also wrote a companion workbook and I have to tell you that it's really pretty good. Normally I don't get much out of written bible studies, but this is actually pretty good.

Today's lesson, on Evie, focused on the first 2 mistakes Evie made.

1. Getting involved in a conversation with Satan that evil serpent. (Whom she calls Devlin in the book)

2. Then adding to God's commandment to not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

She asks this great question and I would love your response. Please read Genesis 3:1-5 first before you answer.

Have you ever walked into that kind of trap, either doubting God's word in your own heart or feeling ill equipped when your face to face with someone else who does? Describe the situation.

I've received a few questions in my comments from the last post on the debate so I thought I'd do a follow up and answer.

Tim wrote in part, "I was somewhat disappointed in the political line that Bush seems to be walking on embryonic stem cell research. He is against it (life begins at conception and stem cell research destroys life) and yet says he supports it when done ethically (first president to support it)."

Tim, I appreciate your observation.

This is what President Bush said in the debate:

"BUSH: Embryonic stem-cell research requires the destruction of life to create a stem cell. I'm the first president ever to allow funding -- federal funding -- for embryonic stem-cell research. I did to because I too hope that we'll discover cures from the stem cells and from the research derived.

But I think we've got to be very careful in balancing the ethics and the science.

And so I made the decision we wouldn't spend any more money beyond the 70 lines, 22 of which are now in action, because science is important, but so is ethics, so is balancing life. To destroy life to save life is -- it's one of the real ethical dilemmas that we face.

There is going to be hundreds of experiments off the 22 lines that now exist that are active, and hopefully we find a cure. But as well, we need to continue to pursue adult stem-cell research.
I helped double the NIH budget to $28 billion a year to find cures. And the approach I took is one that I think is a balanced and necessary approach, to balance science and the concerns for life."

Tim, my understanding from the above is that Bush allowed the 70 lines of stem stells that had already been removed, and therefore has already killed the embryo, to be used. And he chose not to allow any more funding for new lines.

And I remember a few years ago when this was a huge debate because C-Span covered the issue and it was one of the biggest stories because those in favor of killing the unborn were up in arms about his decision, mainly because it favored life.

So I think that Bush did the best he could with what he had to work with at the time.

Anonymous you made some good points. I wasn't aware of Bush owning the lumber company. So Bush needs to get his facts straight :) And the questions about Kerry being wishy-washy versus asking Bush to name three mistakes isn't fair just on the face.

However, my arguement is that Bush did answer the question even though the pundits said he skirted it.

The way he answered the question was by deciphering the question and he answered his critics by telling them, no I didn't make a mistake in going to war, cutting taxes or anything else. (my paraphrase)

Here is his actual answer concerning the mistakes - "Now, you asked what mistakes. I made some mistakes in appointing people, but I'm not going to name them. I don't want to hurt their feelings on national TV."

Hi Jeff - thanks for posting. I love your website and am glad you have it online. You guessed my reasons for thinking Gibson was biased....it was his questions.

First, he didn't have ONE question on homosexual marriage. Why? Because Kerry is losing black voters and the reason why is because Kerry supports gay marriage and opposed a constitutional amendment to make marriage between a man and a woman.

He also didn't have any questions on the immigration issues, which could've been used against both candidates.

When he opened the debate before most the major networks were rolling, he mentioned the audience being not as stacked for Kerry due to the Red Sox game.

And there was not ONE question about the Swift Vet controversy or Kerry's service in Vietnam.

And maybe Gibson was more fair then Lehrer, but to me, his bias was obvious because he deliberately avoided the gay take over of marriage issue.

Birthday Reflections on the Debate

Well folks, the day has arrived - today is my 36th birthday! And what a great way to ring in this year of my life by watching the debates last night with my beloved.

We both ate pizza and watched as the candidates answered the really softball questions offered to them.

I decided to watch the debate on C-span, so I wouldn't get the normal liberal blather from the pundits who think they know everything. At 5:30 they started in introducing people who were involved and eventually they got to Charles Gibson. When Charlie took the mic he quickly gave a recap of the baseball game that just ended a little while before the debate and made a comment that because the RedSox won that the audience probably wouldn't be as full of Kerry supporters.

On the surface that comment might seem funny to some, and maybe even "innocent" but I don't think so. I thought it was way out of line and totally unnecessary. Everyone knows Gibson is a liberal, and I think the majority of the questions last night proved he tried to stack the questions more against Bush than Kerry.

Did anyone else notice that there weren't any questions about gay marriage or a Constitutional amendment?

Did anyone else notice how Kerry tripped all over himself trying to answer the life questions? He was pathetic. The man is a coward because he couldn't even say the words "I support a lady killing her pre-born baby" - He made me want to puke.

Did anyone else notice Kerry licking his lips a lot and giving these wincing smiles like he had gas? The guy was awful last night.

OH, and I almost forgot - did anyone see when First Lady Laura Bush and Theresa HK came out to be introduced? Laura stood straight, smiled and was a lady. THK walked out all slumped over and kind of swaying like "who really cares I'm here" She's a total disgrace to what being a lady is all about. Just goes to prove you can have a ton of money and not be a lady.

One of my favorite part of the debates was when Bush interrupted Charlie and made his point and then later on when he made a joke about the lumber company Kerry claimed he owned.

I also like how Kerry just looked directly into the camera and lied to the American people about not raising taxes. I'm sorry, that's just too laughable to me. If Kerry wins, he will raise taxes on all of us. The man can't be trusted.

Also, it's about time, but Bush actually brought up Kerry's 20 year record in the Senate. That was good!

And in my not so humble opinion Bush knocked the ball out of the park when he answered questions about funding abortion, the stem cell issue and how he would appoint the next Supreme Court judge. He did great!

Kerry on the other hand is a big coward. He appreciated the morality behind the life questions, but the fact is that he's a coward.

And I think Gibson is also a coward because not once did any question come up about the Swift Boat Vets - and I'm sure there had to be at least one question about that.

Also did anyone else notice the last question Bush was asked about naming 3 mistakes he made? Tell me how that is a fair question? And I watch some of the so called experts and they were saying that Bush didn't answer that question.

The fact is Bush did answer it, they need to read the transcript. Bush used wisdom, and also answered the question without indicting himself. For those who think Bush is stupid, this just shows how stupid they are!

All in all the debate was great. Bush clearly won and Kerry is the loser he is. What say you?

Elton's Outburst - Good Homosexual Role Model

All morning the "entertainment" reporters have been "reporting" on this "exchange" between the infamous homosexual Elton John and the confused Madonna.

And after reading the language that came from Elton's mouth, all I can say is amazing isn't it? Wow, and I thought homosexuals were so tolerant!

But apparently Elton has an issue with Madonna's alleged "lip-synching".

Here are a few snippets from the whole article you can read here.

"While collecting a song-writing award from Q music magazine in London on Monday, John suddenly launched into a tirade against Madonna when he discovered she had been nominated for Best Live Act.

"Anyone who lip-synchs in public on stage when you pay 75 pounds to see them should be shot," John said in reference to ticket prices for Madonna's Reinvention tour.

(Just a question from the peanut gallery here - but how come I don't hear the homosexuals decrying Elton's hate speech here? Here he is advocating murder ...yet if it was Swaggart, OH we' d be hearing about it...)

"Madonna, best f***ing live act? F*** off," said the singer renowned as much for his outrageous outbursts as he is for his outlandish outfits.

(Oh, nice language, but even uglier outfits!)

"Since when has lip-synching been live?" he asked.
He ended his outburst by saying: "That's me off her f***ing Christmas card list but do I give a toss? No."

(How much ya wanna bet they will still exchange Christmas cards? - Yeah, they will kiss and make up, but only in a brother and sister way.)

To Madonna's credit she didn't respond in kind. Maybe being a momma has helped her grow up a little.

Dodgers & Angels

Living in Southern California is so cool. I've lived here most of my life and have enjoyed the weather, the beaches at times, and of course all that lovely traffic!

However, what I enjoy now and then is a good ball game and it doesn't matter if it's football, basketball, tennis (which has a ball) or of course base ball. Since I live only a few miles from the "Big A" , as it's called, and have even ridden my mountain bike around the grounds of Angels Stadium, I'm a little partial to the Angels.

However, I also love the Los Angeles Dodgers because when I was a kid Steve Garvey, that famous first baseman, was one of my heroes. The game is great!

Well, in case you're not aware the Dodgers and Angels are both in the playoffs! Wahooo...

Now it's one thing for the NY Yanks and the NY Mets to have a freeway series, but it's quite another for the Dodgers and Angels to get that opportunity. Since with the exception of a few years ago both teams have been Looooossssserrrrrs... :)

So we'll see....just keep your eye on that ball!

This morning as I was putting together my news for E-Involved, I came across this story about Hillary Clinton. I thought it was so funny I had to share it with you.

It's Sunday Why Are You Reading This?

It's Sunday!

Ya know what that means right....it means that it is God's day. It is a day for us to set aside the day to worship Him, talk to Him, go to a place where all these other people believe in Him too and to get our focus off the things of this world.

But here you are...reading this blog. Sinner! :)

Stop it right now! And go and read your bible. Turn on some praise music. Go to a potluck (only if you're Baptist)....

Go on a Sunday drive through the woods to Grandma's house.....(Oh, wrong season...)

OH, better yet, why not go outside and look at God's really cool creation. He does such a great job every day. In fact, the other night I was coming home from school and there was this brilliant sunset - ooh... It was awesome. And then of course if you listen carefully you can hear birds singing, dogs barking and bells ringing.

Life is just so good! So why not worship the Creator today - He loves you!

21 Years Old in Christ Today

Twenty one years ago today I was baptized in Christ. My sins were forgiven and my spiritual life began. Wow!

This morning when I was getting ready to go to my workshop I just reflected upon how great God was to deliver me from the mess I was raised in. And I was just filled with so much gratitude because my eternal destination is secured and I know I'm on my way to heaven. What a great thought!

But I remember the day I was baptized 21 years ago. My mom decided to get married for the 3rd time to a guy almost 20 years older than her, and she did by going to Vegas and leaving me to get baptized without her presence.

It's still amazing to me sometimes when I think about how a parent so hostile to God really didn't want me in church. Most sane parents would want their kid to go to church, but not mine. Amazing.

But one thing I've learned over these years on my spiritual journey is that God is faithful and is truly a loving parent to those of us who had very broken and abusive parents. He really is and for that I'm eternally thankful.

I also remember being baptized and how when I got into the water it was freezing....but then I went under and it got really warm. It was day I'll never forget as long as I live.

What a great thing to know your sins are forgiven, you've been given a clean conscience and your eternal destiny is sealed.
